CATHOLIC SCRIPTURE STUDY - on Thursdays, at 7:30pm in the Hearth Room. Interested in increasing your knowledge of the Bible? The Thursday Night Scripture Study will begin with the Acts of the Apostles. Come and be part of this exciting journey learning about God's saving plan for us. The Association of Christian Therapists is hosting its 24th annual ACT Retreat Day at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Waterdown on Sat. Feb. 11th starting at 9am with the Closing Mass at 5pm celebrated by Fr. A big WELCOME to Bradley Jackson who recently became part of our faith community through the sacrament of Baptism.

CWL GENERAL MEETING will be held on Mon. Feb. 13th at 7:30pm in the Hearth Room.  Our Guest Speaker will be a young lady from the Parish, Elisa Da Costa, who will be performing her one-woman play, “Fly With Me”, which she has written and performed in many schools across the GTA.  During the writing of this Play, Elisa found her way back to the church.  It is a short, inspirational and uplifting play, which will be enjoyed by all.  So, do come out and show support for Elisa. ALL parishioners are invited and welcome to attend.

World Day of the Sick - The Ministry of Jesus to the sick is central to the life of the Church.  Feb. 11th highlights the HEALING MINISTRY of the Church.  It reminds us that service to the sick and suffering cannot be neglected.  It recognizes the great efforts of doctors, nurses, health care institutions and pastoral care givers to restore health to those afflicted with illness and disease.

You are invited to come and find the “Keys to Loving Relationships” - “Keys” is a 10-week video-based program meant for anyone (married or single) who is looking for a more meaningful relationship with a spouse, family member or friend.  The program runs Thursday evenings from 7-9pm starting March 1st, at the Chancery Office, 700 King St. W, Hamilton.  The cost is $45.00. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together the first Friday of March to observe a common day of prayer each year.   “Let Justice Prevail” is the theme of the service written by the women of Malaysia for this year’s ecumenical prayer service.  Please plan to delight in worshipping together ecumenically on Friday, March 2nd.  Two opportunities are available in Burlington:

MEMORIES OF ST. PAUL’S – Throughout the past 25 years parishioner Tony Gagliardi has been taping various events and preserving St. Paul’s history in video format, including documenting the many anniversary functions of this past year.  These videos are now available in a 4-disc DVD set for $19.95.  To order a copy of this trip down memory lane, contact Tony at 905-336-2989, or sign the order form at the back of the church.

St. Paul’s Ministry to the Needy Around the World will be continuing on Mondays from 1-3pm in the Parish Hall.  Everyone is welcome to join the group to crochet, knit or sew children’s clothing.  No experience necessary as there is always someone there to teach you.  For further information, contact Trudy at 905-336-5343.

FAMILY-DAY BOWLING FOR KIDS WITH CANCER:  The Knights of Columbus and The Sian Bradwell Fund for Children with Cancer have teamed up to host a Family-Day Bowling event on Sun. St. Paul’s Senior and Junior Choirs are open to new members at any time.  Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30pm for the Junior group and 7:30pm for the Senior choir and everyone is most welcome to come and check it out. 

SEMINARY EDUCATION COLLECTION -   The annual collection in support of the seminarians of the Diocese of Hamilton takes place this weekend, Feb. 4th//5th. A seminarian is someone who is studying and preparing to be a priest. Please remember in your prayers the 16 seminarians who are preparing for priestly service in our Diocese.  May their generous response to the call of God influence and inspire many others to do the same.

DIOCESAN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS - Are you celebrating your 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, or 60+ Wedding Anniversary in the year 2012?  If you are, you are cordially invited to join couples from across the Diocese of Hamilton for a Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sun. BIG BAND CONCERT - The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a “BIG BAND CONCERT” featuring the TORONTO ALLSTAR BIG BAND at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre on Locust Street on Sun. LEARNING TO COPE: (Level I) is a 10-week support program starting Tues. EMR TRAINING REQUIRED   You may notice our new addition at the centre back of the church of a defibrillator unit for use in Parish emergencies.  Our St. Vincent De Paul has sponsored this unit as their members felt this would be something to benefit parishioners in an urgent state of need. Although there may often be qualified individuals present at church services, it would be extremely beneficial to ensure that there is a core of parishioners always available with an understanding of the basics of organizing lifesaving care. We are looking for someone with first responder training qualifications (such as Firefighters or Paramedic) to train ushers and other interested persons in the general use of defibrillators in conjunction with CPR.  Please contact the office if you can assist with this venture.

ENVELOPE USERS: If you used church envelopes in 2011, there is a box with the same number for 2012 for you on one of the tables in the foyer in alphabetical order. If you would like to start using envelopes, please complete the New Envelope Users Form on the Welcome Table. Your envelopes will be available for you the following Sunday. We ask that ALL envelope users regularly record their name and amount of donation on the front of the envelope to help ensure accuracy. Thank you.

Energize and nurture your Catholic faith by joining a Small Faith Group on Tuesday evenings 7:30-9:00pm in the Hearth Room. This small Faith Group uses the resource "Celebrating the Word" by Fr. Frank Ruetz, CR. What is "CTW"? It is NOT a bible study. It is a weekly publication, based on the Sunday Scriptures providing questions for discussion in a comfortable environment. It helps us discover meaningful responses to the questions and concerns we deal with on a daily basis, and in the process find our faith and lives spiritually enriched. All are welcome to come check it out!

ROSARY - Is the Rosary a special devotion for you? Would you like to pray with others? Every Wednesday, in the Chapel of Notre Dame High School, Catholics come to pray the Rosary at 11:35am, 12:15pm, and 12:55pm. Join them during  your lunch break or if you just happen to be in the area. Bring your private intentions. All are welcome. The Rosary will also be prayed at 6:30pm every Tuesday evening here in the church before the 7pm Mass with the intention of an increase in Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. Again, all are welcome!

The Canadian Red Cross in Burlington is actively seeking VOLUNTEERS to help our vulnerable clients maintain or improve their quality of life. With as little as 60 minutes of your time, weekdays only, by delivering meals or providing necessary transportation, you can help Burlington, seniors maintain their independence in their own homes. ¿HABLAS ESPAÑOL? – There is a Spanish Speaking Mass every Sunday at 6pm at St. Michael’s Church, 181 Sewell Drive in Oakville.

PASSPORT APPLICATIONS:  There is a new simplified Guarantor Policy in effect for passport applications as of
October 1, 2007.  Under the new policy, an eligible guarantor must:
Be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older;
Hold a five-year Canadian passport that is valid, or has been expired for no more than one year;
Have been 16 years of age or older when they applied for their own passport; and
Have known the applicant personally for at least two years.
Now, any family member as well as any individual residing at the applicant’s address may act as guarantor, provided he or she meets the requirements noted above.  To simplify the verification of guarantor’s eligibility, Passport Canada will use its own database, thereby increasing the security and efficiency of the process.

MASS CARDS:  If you would like to request a specific date to have a Mass said for the deceased or a special intention, please come to the Parish Office at least 3-4 months prior to the date requested to try to avoid disappointment. There will be multiple intentions on Tues. evening at 7 p.m. and Sat. morning at 9 a.m.

MULTIPLE MASS INTENTIONS – Because of the many requests we receive for Masses to be said here in the Parish as opposed to being sent to the missions where they can be said in a more timely fashion, we will have multiple intentions at two of the daily masses during the week, Tues. 7 p.m. & Sat. 9 a.m. This is as per the policy of the Hamilton Diocese. 

BAPTISMS:  Baptism is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 1:00 p.m.  Registration forms are available in the pamphlet rack in the foyer.  Baptismal preparation is held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Hearth Room.

MARRIAGES:  Couples planning to be married must contact the priest one year in advance.  You must be a registered parishioner, attending this parish.

HOSPITAL VISITS: If any of your family members is in the hospital and would like a visit from the priest, please see one of the priests or call the parish office at 905 - 332-5115.

GOOD SHEPHERD:  St. Paul’s will continue to collect grocery bags to help distribute food to needy families. Grocery-sized or bigger bags can be dropped off in the cloak room closest to the Hearth Room.
